DIY-lite counts, too.
It doesn’t have to be perfect to be delightful.
Earlier this month we thrifted a narrow hall tree. It’s an unusual piece for the room where it ended up, but that’s no concern to me. I’ve long maintained that when outfitting small spaces for flexibility, storage and smooth navigability, it’s often helpful to seek out furnishings and accessories based on their function and versatility, rather than searching for items by a specific name/term or category.
For example:
A tall, slim umbrella stand might be the perfect recycling or rubbish bin for a tiny kitchen.
An old tiffin lunch box can serve as a splendid stackable art supply tote.
An ottoman can multitask as a pet step and/or coffee table.
And, as it turns out, a hall tree can function as a handy side table and towel rack.
The hall tree now lives in our (only) bathroom, which is also the laundry room.
